The application environment and usage
The totem and kiosk applications are typically placed in a public environment either indoor or outdoor. Applications placed in a public environment often require impact resistance and vandal-proof cover glass. Advertising totems are primarily observed from a distance while information kiosks often have touch interaction. Futhermore, signage applications exposed to direct sunlight may require solar heat control in order to protect the display against overheating.
Typical cover glass requirements
- Impact resistance / vandal-proof
- Reflection control: Anti-reflective or non-glare
- Solar heat control
- Touch: Smooth touch surface
- Anti-graffitti properties and easy cleaning
PSC products and solutions
PSC manufactures special cover glass solutions for totem and kiosk applications of our Glacier™ Glass range. Our Glacier™ AR, Glacier™ SAFE (our laminated glass range), and Glacier™ Sun Shade are often applied.
For outdoor solutions we create solutions with our Glacier™ Sun Shade or Glacier™ Sun Stop, which are cover glass with solar heat protection.
Customer and application
Rosendahl Conceptkiosk A/S is a Danish producer of high quality kiosks and digital signage solutions. PSC supplies among other cover glass with solar heat control for an outdoor kiosk product range called FlexiMegaOutdoor.
Most important customer requirements
The kiosk is exposed to direct sunlight why solar heat protection is required in order to protect the display against overheating. Furthermore, due to the public outdoor environment the kiosk design requires full daylight readability and protection against vandalism.
The chosen solution is a Glacier™ AR Sun Shade laminate with passe-partout.
The Glacier™ AR Sun Shade has a high performance anti reflective (AR) surface treatment which ensures full daylight readability. The integrated NIR absorbing film protects against solar heat and the laminated glass makes it vandal-proof.
