Black panel cover glass design feature

Black panel or dead front - Elegant and aesthetic design feature achieved with cover glass.

When design is an indisplensable requirement

Black panel effect, also known as dead front, is when the display on an electronic application appears black when it is off.

The secret to this elegant and aesthetic looking feature is smoke coloured filters in front of the display. These filters are broad-band which allow the transmittance of all light (colours), and the effect can be achieved with both acrylic cover glass and polycarbonate cover glass.

However, the colour of the acrylic filter is dependent on the application, the amount of light that lay behind the acrylic filter, and how much light may pass through.
