Technical Traffic Solutions

TTS is one of Europe’s most innovative and productive companies within the business of traffics, parking and city-owned equipment. PSC developed and supplied the cover glass for a series of traffic lights named “Green Light”.

Green light is a modern traffic light solution that substitutes traditional glow lamps for LEDs.

The company’s new series of traffic lights were faced with some new challenges, since the new LED-based design meant a flatter panel without the traditional sun shades above the lights themselves.

This meant that the cover glass solution had to be optimized for maximum readability in full sunlight.

On top of this challenge, the solution also had to be impact resistant to prevent potential damage due to vandalism.

The solution we designed for TTS was a polycarbonate filter based on PC S105/25 because of its design flexibility and high impact resistance. A Fine Mat™ surface treatment on top of the polycarbonate filter is applied to further reduce reflections to maximize readability in daylight.

This special grey-shaded filter provides good contrast for the lights behind the cover glass while adhering to the company’s design requirements.
