Information displays placed outdoor are exposed to high levels of infrared light (NIR) from the sun. The infrared light heats up the display, which can cause malfunctions and significantly reduce the life time. Therefore PSC has developed the solar heat control products Glacier™ Sun Stop and Glacier™ Sun Shade.
Glacier™ Sun Shade properties
Glacier™ Sun Shade is a laminated front glass solution, in which a clear PVB film containing nano-sized NIR absorbing particles are integrated. As a result, a significant fraction of the solar heat is blocked before it can reach the display, eliminating overheating issues.
The solar heat blocking properties of Glacier™ Sun Shade can be combined with other Glacier™ products, such as Glacier™ AR. In this case unique properties of the Glacier™AR in the VIS range, and its ability to reflect a significant amount of solar heat, works together with the Glacier™ Sun Shade, creating a combination with unsurpassed visual performance, and a very high level of heat rejection.
Glacier™ Sun Shade laminates can be printed, thermally tempered, and mechanically processed to fit all design requirements.
