Solaris Shield™️ – EMI-Shielded Acrylic

Our Solaris Shield™ is an acrylic solution with EMI shielding.

It is a thin, lightweight alternative made from cast acrylic with embedded metal mesh.

Properties of Solaris Shield™

Solaris Shield™️ is our unique technique which makes it possible to embed a metal mesh directly as an integral part of the acrylic filter, avoiding any issues related to lamination. This embedded mesh is typically made of stainless steel or copper.

When the Solaris Shield™ window is placed in front of certain displays, optical interference (moiré) can occur if the alignment of the mesh is not optimized with the display pixel matrix. This distracting effect can be avoided by aligning the mesh at a certain angle relative to the display. Our EMI shielding filters can be mounted at any angle between 0° and 90°, so you never have to worry about moiré from EMI shielding.

To meet the specified data, it is vital that electrical grounding is made between the entire perimeter of the mesh and the appliance’s housing. This contact can be established by applying conductive silver or nickel paint to the filter’s edge. The filter is mounted in the panel with a conductive gasket or adhesive.

  • Thicknesses: 1.5, 2, 2.5, 3, and 4mm
  • Light Transmission: Approximately 78% compared to acrylic with no shielding
  • Mesh: Bright or Darkened (non-reflective)
  • Dimensions up to 1500 x 1000mm
  • Flexible, conductive silver or nickel busbar on edges
  • Standard operation temperatures between -40°C to 70°C
  • Mesh orientation: 0° to 90°
  • Several standard mesh types can be embedded such as copper 100 OPI Ø 0.03mm and stainless steel 100 OPI Ø 0.025mm. Ask us for other mesh options
